This post is a record that this red velvet cake once existed, as well as being an in memoriam to my old kitchen wallpaper and a lovely bunch of tulips.
It has a cream cheese frosting with some edible sparkle. A recipe may be found here.
I baked it in a heart-shaped tin possibly in honour of St Valentine, possibly because I just had one lying around.
It was a nice cake, but the colouring we used was a paste and it was actually a little bitter and slightly left an aftertaste after baking. While generally a fan of all natural colourings, it is worth testing a little to see what impact it could possibly have on your overall flavour.
